Speed and efficiency

Engine

Engineered for peak performance with cutting-edge design techniques, the FS 450 engine weighs just 26.8kg — a lightweight build that plays a real part in its agility and responsiveness. Positioned to centralise mass, it improves balance and manoeuvrability while boosting anti-squat behaviour in the chassis, with service markers built into the engine cases making maintenance genuinely easier than on previous models.

Cylinder head

This SOHC cylinder head is remarkably compact, with the camshaft positioned as close to the centre of gravity as possible to aid handling and agility. A durable, fine-punched cam chain runs on low-friction guides for real efficiency and reliability, a single oil spray jet keeps things cool, and lightweight rocker-arm-actuated valves are timed specifically for precise torque and throttle response.

Cylinder & piston

This lightweight aluminium cylinder is a genuine engineering achievement, with a 95mm bore and 63.4mm stroke. Inside, the CP bridged-box-type piston uses anodised annular grooves for durability and longer service intervals, all at just 327g. A 13.6:1 compression ratio delivers best-in-class peak power that keeps the FS 450 firmly at the front of the pack.

Crankshaft

The crankshaft is positioned to harness rotating mass at the ideal centre of gravity for light, agile handling, with its inertia carefully calculated to deliver strong traction and rideability from the powerful 450cc engine. A plain big-end bearing built from two force-fitted shells guarantees long, 90-hour service intervals along with genuine reliability.

Crankcases

The crankcases are shaped to centralise mass, arranging shafts and internals for the best possible handling. High-pressure die-casting delivers a thin, exceptionally strong wall at the lowest possible weight.

Anti hopping clutch

A Suter anti-hopping clutch prevents rear wheel instability and hopping under hard braking into a turn, delivering total control and cleaner drifting while cutting the physical effort riders need to put in — a genuine advantage for lap times.

Gearbox

Pankl Racing Systems builds this five-speed gearbox to be light and durable, with motocross-specific gear ratios (29:72) proven on track. A Quickshifter sensor built into the shift drum activates via the QS button on the Map Select Switch for smoother upshifts.

Optimized precision

Lightweight frame

Material is optimised around the steering head and upper shock mount to deliver confident handling and stability into corners. A premium metallic-blue powder coating finishes the chromium-molybdenum chassis, and frame protectors guard the paintwork while adding extra grip in tough conditions.

Polyamide-reinforced aluminium subframe

Built from 60% polyamide and 40% aluminium, the two-piece subframe delivers real strength and durability at just 1.8kg. Cast aluminium lower spars and frame mounts add reliability, while an injection-moulded polyamide upper section is chosen specifically for its flex characteristics at minimum weight.

CNC machined triple clamps

CNC-machined triple clamps work with the frame and suspension setup to deliver precisely calculated geometry for stability. The handlebar clamp offers rubber-damped mounting for reduced vibration or a fixed option for sharper front-end feedback, and a stiffer upper clamp smooths fork action while keeping the front wheel properly aligned.

WP XACT front suspension

48mm WP XACT closed-cartridge forks bring consistent damping through an advanced mid-valve piston design that optimises oil flow and resists foaming. A hydrostop applies progressive damping through the final 68mm of travel to prevent lost momentum on heavy landings, with compression and rebound both adjustable by hand and an air pump supplied to fine-tune fork pressure. SKF fork seals guard against dirt intrusion for consistently reliable performance.

WP XACT shock absorber

The WP XACT rear shock delivers 266mm of travel with a CFD-optimised main piston for genuine initial comfort and predictable performance in any condition, with rebound and both high- and low-speed compression adjustable by hand for a fully personalised set-up.

Swingarm

The swingarm is die-cast with a calculated level of rigidity, and a 22mm rear wheel axle further tunes the chassis’ flex characteristics. A durable chain slider is integrated neatly into the swingarm to keep the chain running smoothly through deeply rutted corners.

Seamless interaction

Bodywork

Ergonomic bodywork is shaped from extensive testing to help riders perform at their best, lap after lap. Smooth contact points in the rider triangle let you grip the bike tightly with your legs to reduce fatigue, radiator shrouds with in-mould graphics keep the look sharp, and a tall, wide seat with a high-grip cover gives unrestricted movement and keeps you planted under hard acceleration.

Airbox

A strong, one-piece airbox resists deformation to keep air intake unrestricted for maximum power, without compromising filter protection. The Twin Air filter is easy to check without tools — just remove the left side panel.

Hydraulic clutch

The high-performance Brembo hydraulic clutch delivers even wear, near-maintenance-free operation and consistent action in any condition. Free play is continuously compensated, so the pressure point and feel stay identical whether the bike’s cold or hot, and however long you’ve owned it — a reliability proven over countless hours of race-focused testing on these Italian-made systems.

Hydraulic brakes

Brembo brakes deliver genuinely exceptional stopping power — a four-piston, radially mounted monoblock calliper with a 310mm disc up front, and a single-piston calliper with a 220mm disc at the rear. Perfectly placed controls give real feel in any condition, backed by a stronger rear brake pedal for maximum durability.

ProTaper handlebar

Developed jointly by Husqvarna Motorcycles and ProTaper, this exclusive bend delivers strong comfort, class-leading strength and fatigue resistance at minimal weight.

ODI grips

ODI lock-on grips bring an innovative integrated throttle mechanism with glue-free installation, offering easy free-play adjustment and the option to fit alternative cams for a genuinely personalised throttle feel.

Footrests

New, slightly smaller footrests are lighter and less prone to scraping the asphalt when the FS 450 drifts through a corner, with a design that still delivers exceptional grip and control everywhere on the racetrack.

Elevate your ride

Wheels and tyres

Black 16.5″ front and 17″ rear Alpina spoked wheels are genuinely light and strong, fitted with Metzeler Racetec SM K1 slicks (125/75 R420 front, 165/55 R420 rear) for maximum grip, traction and agility.

Exhaust system

A flow-designed resonance chamber plays a genuine role in the FS 450’s class-leading performance. Built in two pieces and kept as compact as possible, the header pipe can be removed without pulling the rear shock, and the short, efficient silencer moves weight closer to the centre of gravity for strong power output with noise kept low — all finished in a premium black coating.

Cooling system

High-strength aluminium radiators are shaped using Computational Fluid Dynamics to move air through as efficiently as possible. A large centre tube through the frame reduces pressure for consistent coolant flow, an internal thermostat adds reliability, and a threaded radiator cap makes checking coolant level before a ride quick and easy.

Fuel tank

The 7.2-litre fuel tank sits neatly within the ergonomic bodywork, cushioned by a strong rubber support that protects the frame from wear. The external fuel line is routed to stay out of harm’s way, and a protective cap on the fuel filter keeps dirt, water and impact damage out of the system.

Mastery through passion

Map Select Switch

The intuitive, handlebar-mounted Map Select Switch lets riders activate Launch Control and Traction Control, enable the Quickshifter, and toggle between two engine maps — a genuinely quick way to change engine characteristics for track conditions or personal preference.

Quickshifter

The Quickshifter switches on or off via the Map Select Switch and briefly interrupts ignition on each upshift. A sensor on the shift drum reads force from the shift lever and signals the ECU for smooth gear changes even at full throttle, and it only activates from second gear upward to avoid unintended shifts or false neutrals.

Traction Control

Press the ‘TC’ button on the Map Select Switch to engage Traction Control, which reads throttle input alongside how quickly engine RPM rises. If RPM climbs too fast, the engine management system recognises a loss of grip and cuts power to the rear wheel — a real advantage in wet or slippery conditions.

Launch Control

With the engine idling, pressing the Traction Control and Quickshifter buttons together engages Launch Control, with both symbols flashing to confirm it’s active. Power to the rear wheel is limited to improve traction and prevent loss of control under hard acceleration, and it deactivates automatically after the first gear change (the Quickshifter is also disabled while Launch Control is on).

Mapping

Two built-in engine maps come as standard for personalised power delivery. Map 1 (white) gives linear, predictable power, while Map 2 (green) sharpens throttle response for a more aggressive, explosive feel.

EMS

The Engine Management System is built to be small, light and fast at processing data, and includes a rollover sensor that cuts ignition and shuts down the engine after a severe crash for an extra layer of safety.

Hour meter

An integrated fuel level indicator on the hour meter shows on the FI status LED, warning you when fuel is running low.

Start/stop switch

A combined start/stop switch sits on the right side of the handlebar for easy thumb operation. Removing a separate stop-only button also cuts the risk of accidental damage or activation in a fall.

Electric start

A lightweight 2.0Ah lithium-ion battery makes electric starting effortless. Weighing around 1kg less than a conventional lead battery, it delivers the convenience of electric start while keeping overall weight to a minimum.
